After a tour of the vineyard and the new winery we sat down and tasted the just bottled 2010 vintage.
While it seems that some producers might have struggled with acid in this vintage, Johannes rocked it. i have never had wines that that taste so creamy despite high levels of acid. really an amazing feat. i could move here.....
2010 Weingut Josef Leitz Riesling Eins Zwei Dry "3" 88 Points
Germany, Rheingau
popped and poured. color light straw. nose tight, palate shows very clean varietal flavor, and this finish is amazing considering the price point. this is a no brainer for the patio or a start-up

2010 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheim Riesling Magic Mountain 89 Points
Germany, Rheingau
focus on the magic part of this name. it is truly magical. popped and poured. color light straw. nose shows intense minerality with some fruit which scared me a little, but the mouthfeel is very soft. this has a long finish but does show the acid on the back-end. really a delicious option at this price point.

2010 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Schloßberg Riesling Großes Gewächs 92 Points
Germany, Rheingau
popped and poured. typical light straw color. nose shows intense minerality and fruit, and this carries through on the palate. this has a long very balanced finish showing the perfect amount of acid. delicious.
Evidently Leitz has changed designations this vintage from Alte Reben to Ehrenfels so I have corrected my note.

popped and poured. color light straw. nose showing very intense minerality and tropical fruits, but demonstrably different than the schlossberg vineyard which is only meters away, but much different soil. this also shows a long balanced finish. really great

2010 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck Riesling Spätlese 95 Points
Germany, Rheingau
popped and poured. last in the lineup today. this had straw color. I couldn't keep my nose out of this glass. the minerality and fruit were captivating and the nose had a saline character. the palate showed intense fruit, residual sugar that seemed far lower than it really is because of the perfectly balancing acid structure. this had a very long finish. really an amazing wine.
