  • 2004 De Lisio Catalyst 89 Points

Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

Deep ruby, almost black. I really like wines with earthy tones, so I liked this one a lot. Aromas of raspberry, and earth immediately hit the nose. This is followed by hints of pepper and vanilla. The palate had tastes of sweet red fruit, along with a bit of pepper and vanilla. The finish had quite a kick, with firm tannins and loads of lingering fruit.

  • 2002 Mauritson Wines Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 86 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley

Deep ruby. This wine had a bit of overripeness to it. The nose had raspberry, with notes of pepper, chocolate, and vanilla. The palate had raisany tastes of raspberry, and plum. Behind that was a little spice and vanilla. the tannins were solid and the finish long. It wasn't great, but it was drinkable.
