France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Medium color. Good black fruit on nose and palate, just a trace of spice. Tannins are subtle and well integrated for a 1995. Quite overt acidity that isn't quite as harmonious. Moderate length, which also seems a bit angular. I'd hold for a few more years but I'm not sure this will get more balanced.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Nice red and black cherry flavors, showing a bit riper than most 1995s. More accessible than most Grand Crus from that vintage, the structure seems balanced and integrated already, even if the wine comes across as fairly simple in both the middle and finish.

Spice-driven aromas with tight fruit. Alas we didn't give much decanter time. Red and black cherry came across as stern and slightly backward, making this tough to assess behind assertive tannins. The rare 1989 that demands still more time in cellar, this should be much better in another 5+ years
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
Reasonably mature fruit character on the nose along with some floral and spice hints. Same good red fruit on the palate but a little lost behind the structure.

Bright aromatics of red fruit and late summer flowers. Rose petal and strawberry continued from aromas onto the palate and finish. Flavors seemed to start rather delicate but pick up intensity from spice and minerality. Interesting comparison with the 1966 in the next glass, which was as good but more earthy and spicy.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
Great nose of a perfectly aged red Burg, with some smoky notes, mushrooms and red cherry. Intense earthy flavors also showed good red fruit, with great spice and a bit of sweetness emerging noticeably on the very long finish. Great side-by-side comparison with the 1964 in the next glass, which was more primary and floral. The 1964 was the group's WOTN, but I was leaning slightly towards the 1966.

Musty when first opened and decanted, then left to stand a couple of hours. Spicy red fruit on the nose. Similar red cherry flavors on the palate but behind massive tannic structure and acidity. Finish seemed to show a bit more black fruit and again lots of Asian spice. Incredible length. Great potential, I'd hold to something like 2015-2038. Far more interesting than the 1995 tasted alongside.

Opened a couple of hours in advance. Spicy and vibrant nose when poured, with cinnamon and clove spice. Same spice and red fruit in the middle and the finish, which also started to show some earthy hints. Very nice, but not nearly the intensity of the 1988 open alongside.
