Introduction

I really enjoy novovino's portfolio. Very diverse with a lot of very good producers. There's always something that sticks out for me that I wouldn't have expected

Flight 1 - Chilean wines and a lone sherry (6 Notes)

  • 2007 Kingston Family Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Cariblanco 87 Points

    Chile, Casablanca Valley

nose: fresh and crisp nose of lemon zest, wet stones, grassy tones and some bits of jalapeno peppers

taste: lighter bodied with good medium+ acidity and fresh tones of citrus, lemon zest, and grassy tones

overall: nice and fresh. More of a sipper as there isn't much depth to the tones though there is a nice crispness on both the nose and palate

nose: zesty and upfront nose of citrus tones, apples, bits of pears, and some tones of stone fruits

taste: light bodied with medium+ acidity and fresh tones of citrus, apples, pears, minerals and stone fruits

overall: very good and balanced kabinett. Fragrant with decent depth on both the nose and the palate

nose: excellent depth, though tight on the nose, with balanced tones of pears, green apples, citrus tones, lemons, limes, and bits of crushed stones

taste: medium bodied, but on the lighter side, with medium+ acidity and well balanced tones of pears, green apples, fresh picked lemons, and bits of crushed stones

overall: this does need some time to trim the baby fat off. Well balanced and very aromatic with excellent tones on the palate as well

  • 2008 St. Urbans-Hof Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese 90 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

nose: sweeter and fresh nose with tones of petrol, green apples, limes and a good mineral undercurrant. Good depth, but rather tight right now as well

taste: medium bodied with medium+ acidity and balanced tones of petrol, green apples, minerals, white fruits and a good bit of limes. Good depth, but the acidity is showing a bit much right now

overall: this is a young riesling that is built for some good mid-term aging. Well balanced with excellent tones on both the nose and palate

While I got to a good amount of wines, it sure felt like I could've gotten to a lot more. Lots of different wines to taste from which always makes things enjoyable
