Tasting at Rochioli

Introduction

Our tasting here was completely the opposite of our tasting at Joseph Swan. The tasting room staff was impersonal and cold - just going through the motions. We felt as if it wouldn't have mattered had we never set foot in the tasting room to begin with. The grounds are nice though, with some lovely views from the patio looking east towards the Mid 40 and River Block vineyards.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2010 J. Rochioli Chardonnay Russian River Valley 91 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

65% of the fruit came from the Mid 40 vineyard, the remaining 35% from the River Block vineyard. Pale yellow color with a light greenish tint. Notes of coconut and banana; tropical fruit. Has a nice rich texture, yet feels light and elegant at the same time. Flavors of apple, coconut, butter and vanilla; pleasant finish that lingers just a bit. 91-92 pts.
