Clear light gold in color. full grassy, weedy, asparagus nose. Big green bell pepper, grapefruit, and slight mineral palate. Full mouthfeel with decent acidity, but smooth. Good representation of the variety and very nice with appropriate food.
Deep clear gold in color. Big bosomy nose of apple, butterscotch, and baking spice. Good acidic backbone under apple, quince, mineral, and butterscotch palate. Probably not a long-term keeper, but could see it getting slightly more interesting with another year or two.
Good representation of the variety. Nice garnet color and typical funky nose with a bit of the ocean in back. Medium-bodied and full-flavored with cherry, earth, some leather. Very good QPR at the $15 price point. Would love to taste after 5 years or so.
Deep red purple in color with classica plummy nose. Medium-full body and plush mouthfeel. Dark purple fruit with some chocolate on finish. Moderate tannins. Very good value at the $14 price point, but definitely a drink now food wine.
Classic Napa Cab profile. Deep garnet color. Full nose of cassis, chocolate, and oak with a hint of bell pepper underneath. Firm tannins... could have used a good decanting, but the flavors still cam through. Good QPR at $18 and should have a few years life in it.
Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Langhorne Creek
Deep color, full dark berry nose, and rich body rule here. Lightly structured with a quick dissipating mousse, but classic Aussie Shiraz flavor profile of big dark red and black berries. Great QPR at $16, and a real crowd favorite with entreé and dessert.
