The Washington Tasters Guild held a Nuits St. Georges dinner on a windy Thursday night in DC. The event was held at Brasserie Beck, and the food was quite well paired with the wine. In general, the wines were open for several hours but not decanted.
Paired with Peekytoe Crab, Cauliflower Panna Cotta, Shaved Cauliflower, Celery & Rasins
Paired with Roasted Squab, Farro, Persillade, and Cherry Jus
Paired with Duck Pain d'epices Puree, Herb Roasted Apricots, Spinach, Duck Jus
Paired with Epoisses (too strong for the wine, the entire table needed a palate cleanse after the cheese)
My takeaway was that 2005 is a great, powerful vintage in NSG, and 2006 is a good if not particularly interesting vintage that will drink a few years earlier than '05. All these wines showed young and need several more years of bottle age to yield maximum pleasure.
2005 Domaine de L'Arlot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de l'Arlot Blanc
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
From Magnum. Pale gold color, grapefruit nose, fat golden fruit, a bit light on acid, wood on the farily long finish.

2005 Domaine de Montille Beaune 1er Cru Les Aigrots Blanc
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Lighter color compared to the Clos d'Arlot, more retiscent nose but with coaxing some butter, floral notes. Oak, subdued citrus fruit, round palate, good acid. Wood on the slightly clipped finish
