  • 2000 Lur-Saluces "Y" 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur

Lovely nose, complex, grassy, clean and lively; full body but fresh texture, lemon. A very unique, lovely, balanced wine. A great blend. 94

  • 2009 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Balanced blend of asian spices and big fruit; approachable, dense blackberry, blackcurrant. Quite a ripe wine, possibly even lacking the bit of freshness/acidity to make it a superlative wine. 92

  • 2009 Château Valandraud 93 Points

Dense blackcurrant profile; palate is very young and tannic, dense; finish is medium, tannic. A california style, but excellent within that style. Needs time. 93

  • 2008 Château Pape Clément 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Minerally, dusty, great spices, balanced fruit; tannic, very young but fresh, good fruit, midpalate drops a tad, balanced finish. Much potential but needs many years. I thought this was an excellent wine, especially for the price. 92+

  • 2008 Château Léoville Las Cases 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Very aromatic, red fruit, dusty, underlying hint of green that complements the other flavors well; good fruit, nice complexity, balanced. Too young to really evaluate well, but I like the style. 93-95.

  • 2008 Château Montrose 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

Great, balanced, red and black fruits; tannic, very young, good fruit but not showing much complexity. This wasn't very distinctive and likely needs a lot of time to show its best. 92

  • 2006 Château Haut-Brion 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Aromatic, baked spices, red fruits, hint underlying minerality; lovely fruits, still structured and needs many years; finish is quite long. This will one day be excellent, but for now it is very good. I would not open a bottle for 5-10 years minimum. 94-96.

  • 1997 Château d'Yquem 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

Deep gold color but with no hint of orange; intense apricot, complex lovely nose, nice spices; palate is fresh, can taste the sauvignon blanc, intense at first then a balanced minerally midpalate, great density; clean finish with moderate-long length. This is a superb sauternes and a very good Yquem. This has a long development ahead and while drinking nicely, has likely years more integration ahead of it. 94-95
