Blackberry aromas with huge black pepper. Same fruit on palate, very ripe with great intensity, but much better structural balance than the Ampuis from the same vintage also just tasted. Long finish, with same pepper and some exotic Asian spice. Still just a baby.
What a great positive surprise. Plum, blackberry, kirsch aromas, followed by blackberry and black plum on palate. Tannins in perfect harmony, this is at its absolute peak today.
Unfortunately popped-and-poured. this could have used hours in a decanter. Black fruit and liqueur aromas, followed by plum and sweet liqueur on palate. Intense fruit start-to-finish. Sweetness softened on finish and as the wine got more air.
