Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 1999 Domaine de Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

This Ferrand 1999 was way woodier than my previous showing at the Daniel in March. Its legs were fat, its dress displayed an amber disk, and its final was quite short. Although a disappointment, this wine was still great. La Beaugraviere has a natural cellar which reaches temperatures close to 16C during summer; no wonder why this wine was less backward than its cross-atlantic counterpart.

  • 2010 Domaine Saint Préfert Châteauneuf-du-Pape Collection Charles Giraud 100 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Sniffing this 2010 Charles Giraud, I had a loaded gun -wait, a loaded BAZOOKA- of flavors under my nose! I could have put the glass back on the table and give it a perfect score without sipping it. But... Holly ****, its multidimensional profile, full of every indescribable thing I have ever wanted to get in a glass of wine, was to die for.
Although this was a wine that cleared everything out of my mouth to display its magnificence, my senses were left virgin as I could enjoy some fine and delicate cheese meanwhile, as if left by a dream of which I will always remember without consequences.

  • 1990 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Marc de Bourgogne 98 Points

    France, Burgundy, Marc de Bourgogne

A very intense Marc de Bourgogne, this digestive closed our first experience at La Beaugraviere with elegance.
