Four of us gathered to partake of the culinary goodness of Tilia. Just a mundane Wednesday evening with anything but mundane food and wine. And why not?
Medium gold color. Pop and pour. Drank 2 glasses over 1 hour. Wow, this was pretty impressive. Nose has piercing minerality, sea shells, sea air, saline, citrus, lemon. The palate has vibrant acidity, a precise vein of stony minerals, oily coating mouthfeel, lemon, saline, and a long lemon infused mineral finish. Wonderful. This was a really bright, vibrant, and well balanced wine.
Very dark red color. Splashed and decanted for 15 minutes. Drank 2 glasses over 1hr plus. Nose shows some funk, earthy, plum, black cherry, cassis, cedar, smoke, esprersso. The palate is full bodied with dense layers of black fruits, earth, mineral, some oak, espresso, nice well integrated tannins and a long finish. It's been a while since last visiting this and it is doing quite well. I don't think this needs much of a decant anymore. It is pretty close to a pop and pour at this point, but it still has a long future ahead.
Amber color. Drank 1+ glass over 20 minutes. This may have been the best bottle to date. The purity of the fruit here is amazing. Apricots galore, pear, flowers, a honeyed velvet texture and a singing, long finish. Great balance. This just keeps getting better. Dangerously easy to drink. I would love to see if this is reproducible in other vintages. 93+ pts.
