• 2010 Domaine Dujac Chambolle-Musigny 87 Points

  (Barrel Sample) Red fruit, light dark fruit notes, light oak, meaty elements, floral and elegant nose. On the palate it is silky, yet on the easy side, with a some firm tannin on the end. Some green/harsh notes on the finish too. 87

• 2009 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Chambolle-Musigny 89 Points

  A touch of a meaty, animal feel on the nose interlaced with the pinot aromatics. A high quality village and outclassed the other village wines on the flight. Good acidity. Lovely purity. Ok granted some rough elements on the finish but to be expected at this level. 89

• 2010 Domaine Fourrier Chambolle-Musigny Vieille Vigne 87 Points

  This is mostly young vines. Dark red in colour, denser and meatier. Quite a bit of weight for a village. The nose is restrained and light. Not a typical Chambolle wine. 87

  Although on open it was ok by the time we got it oxidation took the better part of it and s smelled and felt like a bad rioja. Shame.

• 2009 Geantet-Pansiot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru

  Such delicate nose, with lovely textbook pinot aromatics. Good ripeness , nice fruit and for the age and surprisingly silky (still vibrant though). Robust and rich wine. Will definitely improve with time.

• 2009 Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru

  Quite a bit of fruit on the nose, meaty notes . Savory, meary, good texture and Intensity on the palate and although on the young side still enjoyable now and will only improve going forward.

• 2007 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Beaux Bruns 92 Points

  Earthy, truffle notes on the nose which blend well with pinot aromatics. Quite evolved and full with good tannin and in a way a more Gevrey wine than a Chambolle in our mind. Pretty solid stuff. 92

• 2009 Domaine Bertheau (Pierre et François) Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 90 Points

  Light in colour, fresh with good acidity and definition to the experts in the room the quintessential chambolle musigny. We found it a bit disappointing to be honest for the level of terroir available and expected so much more. Maybe it’s a function of youth but on the night it didn’t sing to us. 90 at best

  This is mostly Musigny young vines. Some even 20yrs old apparently. Very young at this stage, with lots of ripe fruit, powerful wine and really could use another 5-10yrs to evolve.

• 1997 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras 95 Points

  WOTN and of grand cru quality. It has a meaty, dark notes on the nose, earth , truffle. Secondary. Complex, vibrant and really we can go on and on about this wine but the reality is that is a class act, pure and elegant and amazing. 95 and probably at its peak

• 2006 Domaine Jacques Prieur Musigny

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru

  Maybe a touch on the overdone side, with quite a bit of oak and extraction. Good developed aromatics for the age but still very young and tight as a wine even with the amount of fruit. True to Prieur style of big mascular and meaty wines. A bit too young to rate for us at this stage.

• 2006 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Bonnes Mares

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

  Expressing the artisan of wine makers in burgundy. Very structured wine, broad and big. With an elegant and refined character. This wine definitely requires decanting at this stage and benefitted by almost 1 hour in the glass by the time we got to it. Still on the young side though and could use another 5yrs minimum to get to its drinking window.
