    Medium acid, low tannin, medium minus body, medium flavour intensity, tart citrus – grapefruit – that dissipates leaving a warm (medium alcohol) finish. Nah

    France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey 1er Cru

    Lemon, medium minus intensity
    Medium plus intensity, developing, perfume, slight citrus but more stone fruit, butterscotch and cream
    Medium acidity, low tannin, spice white pepper, apple, very slight lees, medium body, and medium flavour intensity. Hmm.

    Slight candy floss and toffee apple almost caramel, over slight earthiness

    Clear, medium minus intensity, ruby
    Earth, buttery/creamy, toasty, also redcurrant and, hints, cherry
    Medium plus acidity, medium minus tannin, savoury, red currant, the finish is short in length and the wine is quite simple

  • 2008 Château de Chamirey Mercurey 1er Cru Les Ruelles

    France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey 1er Cru

    Clear, medium minus intensity, ruby
    Earth, butter/cream, toast, spice (cinnamon) red cherry, cedar, leather. Smells like lots of new oak
    Medium plus acid, medium minus tannin, medium body, medium favour intensity, white pepper, sweet spice (cinnamon), cherry, long warm finish. Nice but more on the nose than the finish. Needs time – come back in 3 years.

    Butter, cream, toast, spice, cedar, red berry fruit
    Medium acid, medium minus tannin, body and flavour intensity. Sweet spice and white pepper, red berry, slight bitterness on the medium long finish. Nah.

    Toast, vanilla, cream, cedar, over slight perfume and red fruit
    Medium acid, body and flavour intensity, medium minus, fine silky tannin, juicy red berry fruit, spice, balanced, long finish. Very good

    Toast, vanilla, cream, cedar, very slight farmyard funk, red fruit, bacon (sulphur?) and spice
    Medium acid, tannin, body, flavour intensity, spice, talky tannin, over red fruit, long juicy warm finish. Lovely

  • 2007 Domaine du Moulin de Dusenbach Pinot Noir Barriques

    France, Alsace

    Pale, garnet
    Perfumed but also leather, earth and red fruit
    Medium plus alcohol, spice, leather, dry, not much fruit but very savoury and with a long hot finish.
