It's Greek To Me

Leo Sioris invited a gang of 12 to a small get-together to celebrate his 60th birthday. Dinner was arranged with a great local restaurant It's Greek To Me which proved to be a fitting tribute to his Greek heritage. Flighting the wines with the menu was a major challenge and probably not worth the effort as both the food and the wines were first rate. The food was truly extraordinary, and we had an extremely good showing from all the wines. The conversation was non-stop with an occasional stop for short speeches throughout the evening.
Wines are listed in the approximate order poured. I had six glasses going most of the night and kept the better pours for re-tasting as long as possible. Notes are sketchy as this was first and foremost a celebration of Leo's birthday.
We've got a great group of local wine enthusiasts and this tasting was great. Congratulations to Leo on reaching 60 (and as we said at the tasting good luck on the next 60). Wine of the night for me was probably the '88 La Mouline, although the '89 Beaucastel the '02 Dujac and the '75 Pichon Lalande were right there at the top.
