  • 2002 Louis Jadot Corton-Charlemagne Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

Tasted double blind. Clearly identified as ripe vintage white Burgundy, this shows lush and ripe apple aromas with peach hints with some buttery character. Also lush apple on palate with good power, some lemon on finish. Good concentration and freshness.

  • 2010 Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru

Tasted double blind. Easily identifiable as a young Burgundy. Decanted approx one hour. Lean red cherry and strawberry aromas with great spice aromas. Elegant flavors, seemingly close to accessible today, I thought this from a more forward vintage like 2007, very pleasantly surprised to see it the amazing 2010 that I also enjoyed several times last year. Lacy and enticing start-to-finish.

  • 1999 La Jota Cabernet Sauvignon Anniversary Release 90 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain

Tasted double blind. Somewhat woodsy and briary aromas with dense black fruit. Fruit seems slightly roasted on palate, but good acidity helps provide some energy, despite fairly firm tannins. I thought this older.

  • 2010 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Tasted double blind. Great black cherry aromas, very concentrated and intense but also balanced. Herbs de Provence spice on nose and palate. Elegant and persistent throughout. Great and balanced already, but with the substance to be great for 15-20 years.

  • 2006 Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru 91 Points

  • 2004 Romano Dal Forno Passito Vigna Seré 93 Points

    Italy, Veneto, Veneto IGT

Demi-sec style but with a viscosity I'd normally expect from a much sweeter wine. Mostly fig aromas, some prune. Persistent, long and very enjoyable. Most certainly not a dessert wine, this would be great with dried fruit, roasted walnuts or almonds and perhaps some semi-soft cheese.
