Clean light chalk which gave this away to me as a South African Cab. Brick brown color with a hint of cassis. A short finish and definitely thinning - I would drink up if you had any more as it is on its down hill.
Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Just didn't work for me - maybe well beyond its prime but still I would have hoped to have something more. Tobacco bouquet with a medicinal nose. No fruit at all in the aroma. Dark fruit in the mid palate and then a quick finish.
I am not sure this was worthy of the formal 87 score. More like an 85 to me. Classic guava on the nose which gave it away as a Chilean. (When it was unveiled it surprised me as I had never tasted guava in this Cab before) Green peper on the nose with green fruit too. Seems to be getting a little out of balance between the acid and sugars (maybe the age)
