Introduction

This special tastings was hosted by the Moet & Chandon Brand Ambassador, Stanislas Rocoffort de Vinniere. First we tasted through a dozen of assemblage wines Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay and Vins de Reserves.

Flight 1 (1 Note)

  • NV Moët & Chandon Champagne Brut Impérial 89 Points

    France, Champagne

    The wine offers up a nose of apple, grapefruit, stony minerality and citrus. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, with brisk acids, elegant mousse and youthful on the finish. Pinot Noir 30 to 40%. Pinot Meunier 30 to 40%. Chardonnay 20 to 30%. Dosage: 9 g/litre.

  • NV Moët & Chandon Champagne Brut Imperial Rosé 90 Points

    France, Champagne

    A complex and nose of red and black fruit, some toast and a lovely base of minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, medium-bodied, with perfect balance and a long classy finish. Just a beautiful bottle Brut Rosé. Pinot Noir 40 to 50% of which 10% red wine. Pinot Meunier 30 to 40% of which 10% red wine. Chardonnay 10 to 20%. Dosage: 9 g/litre.

  • 2004 Moët & Chandon Champagne Grand Vintage 92 Points

    France, Champagne

    This refined wine that offers up a bouquet of citrus, peach and chalky minerality. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied and very precise on the classy complex finish. I would definitely cellar this wine for another eight years to let some secondary aromas come through. Chardonnay 38%. Pinot Noir 33%. Pinot Meunier 29%. Disgorged in 2012 - Dosage: 5g/l.

  • 2004 Moët & Chandon Champagne Grand Vintage Rosé 91 Points

    France, Champagne

    The 2004 Grand Vintage Brut Rosé is a relatively recent phenomenon in the Moet Chandon line-up. The bouquet is deep, complex and youthfully tight, as it offers up a very, very promising nose of dark fruit and a touch of cacao. On the palate the wine is fullbodied and very, pure, with soft tannins and a brilliant length. A food wine ! Pinot Noir 45% of which 22% red wine. Chardonnay 31%. Pinot Meunier 24%. Disgorged in 2012 - Dosage: 5g/l.

  • 1990 Moët & Chandon Champagne Grand Vintage Rosé 95 Points

    France, Champagne

    Out of magnum an incredible powerful complex nose of mushrooms, cacao and soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very, very complex, with great length and grip on the finish. A unique wine. The 1990 Grand Vintage collection is a re-releases of older vintages from the Moet & Chandon cellar an exceptional wine and one of the 20th century’s finest vintages.
