France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Nose of flint, lemon oil and something resembling fresh sea water. One of those classic white burgundy noses that you can just keep nosing for a while. Its palate was incredibly lithe and flavorful. Some tropical fruits, but also a good deal of fresh lemon, wax, and sweet oak. Lovely balance. Showing very well.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Beautiful nose of sous bois, pure red cherry, and some warm spices. The palate seemed a bit acidic, lots of sour cherry. Came across a bit harsh to me.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Perfumed nose of heather, lemon oil, and sea water. The palate was really interesting. Flavors were rich, almost sappy, but it was lithe and precise. Still seemed very wound up and unforgiving, the fruit was there but seemed tight. Will be interesting to see how these mature.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Really nice pinot. Had great dusty red fruit, dried florals, spices, and earth. The palate was really nice. Silky, elegant red fruits, nice structure and balance.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Really bright pear and apple fruits, an intense minerals. The palate was like a river stream, cool, elegant and refreshing. The acidity was beautiful. A great chardonnay.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Amazing nose. Salty lemons, tidal pool aromas, and vivid lemons. The palate seemed to be in a great place. Lemons were pure, layered and complex. Acidity is still kicking and there was really nice floral aromas to boot.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
Amazing aromas of earth, spice, and lavender. Palate had a nice richness to it with good balance and acidity. Loved the layers of earth, red fruits, and roses. Beautiful.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Super pure nose. Red fruits, dusty earth, and crushed rocks. The palate is an absolute pleasure...amazing purity and depth. Layers of florals, earth and red fruits with sizzling acidity. Amazing stuff.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
Has nice brown sugar, warm earth, and red florals on the nose. The palate was really nice. A bit sweet, but there's a nice underlying balance to it. Really really nice.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Beautiful nose of flint, seashells, tropical fruits and lemons. Love the palate. Dense fruit (typical of the vintage), but the searing acidity of a vintage like 2007. Love the balance, and the depth here. Showed so, so well.
NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée 91 Points
France, Champagne
Nice and toasty. Despite the toast, this has really nice minerality and acidity. I do enjoy the house style of Krug, so this is a no brainer for me.
