Introduction

I took a look at a few older Oregon Pinots over the last week or so. I bought these all on release and they have been well stored since.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2004 Sineann Pinot Noir Resonance Vineyard 93 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

    (4/6/2013)

Decanted 2 hours. A chunk of firm sediment. Medium-dark with a hint of amber at the clear rim. Dark fruit, medicinal herbs and some smoky spices on the nose. Ripe, rich and velvety flavors include black cherry preserves, dark chocolate, raspberry and an attractive savory element. Sweet and luscious with a touch of tannin, this full-bodied wine wine is a real crowd-pleaser that probably won't be getting any better. Drink soon.

  • 1999 Elk Cove Vineyards Pinot Noir Windhill 92 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

    (4/7/2013)

Decanted 2 hours. Medium bright color with a touch of dust at the rim. The lovely nose is fresh, floral and gently spicy. On the palate this wine is fresh and lively with good balance and poise. Gently sweet red cherry fruit flavors are lifted by good acidity and still a touch of tannin. Very pretty. Drink now thought 2016.

  • 2002 Elk Cove Vineyards Pinot Noir Windhill 91 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

    (4/12/2013)

Decanted 1.5 hours. Bright crimson color. Equal parts savory and sweet notes on the nose. Bright and lifted with lots of red cherry, meat, and savory herb aromas. Juicy, bright flavors with cherry, cranberry and sweet spices. Light on its feet with a refreshing finish, this could continue to provide pleasure for few more years. Drink now through 2016.
