Ripe apple, earth hints, touch of sweet spice. Lush and well rounded on palate, much better than I recall from when tasted shortly after release.

Red cherry aromas with subtle spice hints. Not very forthcoming today, this wine needed some thought and attention to enjoy. Firm grip with lots of structure front-and-center, much more than I'd expect from 2008 Volnay, even if only given 30 minutes in a decanter. Hold to 2020 or later, but clearly there is great raw material here.

Forward and lush fruit with some oak spice and some earthy notes. Very forward and medium weight while also quite ripe, I never would have thought from 2008 if served blind.

Floral start with ripe apple and faint tropical hints. similar start on palate, picking up an edge and some energy from middle to long finish. I had wanted to order the 2007 instead, and just wish we had ordered the pair together, given how great this 2008 showed tonight.

Lush and almost sweet fruit start, showing apple and some peach, nicely supported by oak spice and wintergreen hints. Similar start on palate, getting slightly leaner towards finish.

Red and black cherry aromatic start with a bit of earth and woodsy spice. Same fruit flavors, all nicely balanced and well textured. Moderate intensity and length, but good for the vintage. Better in a few years, perhaps 2017-2024.

Served blind at dinner. Honeyed character with ripe vintage elements. Clean, ripe stone fruit, clearly mature, but lots of power and spice throughout. What a great treat.

Served blind with dinner. Clearly quite old from a mediocre vintage, I thought this was from the 70s, in fact thinking perhaps 1977. Lean style, seemingly underripe, slightly meaty. Better when first poured vs 30 minutes later. Faint fruit hints, lots of good earthy and mushroom elements.

Served blind with dinner. Most earthy but seemed to be fairly ripe with a good deal of age, which made me think perhaps 1969. This plot has great exposure, which certainly helped in 1967, which I don't think was a particularly ripe vintage in general. I thought this was a top 1er, thinking perhaps Beaune Ursules, which led to the next wine....

Ripe cherry aromas at least as prominent as earthy forest floor elements. Same wonderful combination of remaining fruit and mushroom on palate. Incredible balance and textures. Fresh fruit, great structure. Very enjoyable, far more than the charming Corton Pougets just tasted, also from 1967.

Lemon and lemon peel aromas. Similar on palate with some energetic pop at the finish. Slightly simple but very good balance and overall performance for its level and price.

Intense floral start with great cross-section of red fruit aromas and great spice. Strawberry and red cherry flavors, incredibly well textured and balanced. Very elegant. Approx 30 minutes in decanter before serving. No surprise, last taste was the best.

Fat and lush peach, pear and apple with faint mint hints and some tropical elements, which stayed just on the right side of seeming over-ripe. Moderate weight and depth, this could have used a bit more energy. Best in the next few years.

Lush stone fruit aromas with assertive, attractive spice. Good start with ripe peach flavors and some slightly more subtle spice, but this is somewhat short and simple, but I think that is mostly driven by this bottle being far more mature and advanced than we should expect from the vintage.

Ripe black fruit aromas with black pepper. Similar on palate, seemingly simple at first, but picking up some depth with more air. Kept changing with more time but it never really took on more complexity, which is perfectly fine for its level. Slightly sweet start-to-finish.

A bit of sulfur to start took some time to dissipate and made this slightly tough to assess. Obvious forward and powerful stone fruit with some nutty hints, but this is a wine built and meant to age, somewhat austere from middle to finish. 90-91 point potential for me.

Bright red fruit aromas with intriguing baking spice, also slightly perfumed. Lots of both "Vosne" and "Dujac" character, with slightly more emphasis on Vosne. Ripe red fruit on palate as well with similar spice and brown sugar hints. Forward and accessible like many 2006s but with great balance and overall elegance. A sensational accomplishment for the first complete vintage producing this wine.

Floral aromas, lush and ripe orchard fruit. Fat, unctuous mouth feel. Kept getting better and expanding over the course of an hour sitting outside Bistro de l'Hotel.

Popped and poured, this wine is at the start of a great drinking that should go to 2025+ easily with upside from here. One of the more lush and forward 2001s I can remember, if served completely blind I never would have thought this from the "Leaner" 2001 vintage. Lots of black fruit flavors and aromas, this barely hinted at earthy evolution. Good baking spice to start that took on more character and nuance once open an hour plus. We had two bottles of this wine over the week, from different sources, both with identical notes.

Tasted blind, not a personal favorite for me. Slightly simple, sweet and jammy, I was not certain this was red Burgundy despite the fact that were sitting in Place Carnot in the heart of Beaune.
