2011 was a cool vintage for this wine. 74 Viognier, 26 Marsanne. pear fruit and some chalky zest to the nose. orange rind aromas. peachy.

concentrated red berry fruit and eucalyptus. med/+ body. red berry with a peach juice freshness. some tannin for being Grenache. Med/- tannin. clay-y tannin. no new oak.

2009 d'Arenberg d'Arry's Original Shiraz/Grenache

chester's dad was d'Arry. this wine used to be called 'Burgundy,' when you could do such a thing. meatier aromas relative to the 2009 Custodian Grenache. again, eucalyptus aromas. full and fresh palate. red and darker fruit profile. more structured than blowsy.
Red Stripe wines, long narrow label is barrique aged. short square labels are no new oak.

2010 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Footbolt

Originally called 'old vine.' A tribute to the racehorse that bought the original farm.
More fruit and less eucalyptus than the Custodian or d'Arrys. Med/- or med tannin. Again, clay-y tannin. Done in wax lined concrete tank. 25 basket presses for everything. Including stump jump.
