I don't know, I may have given this too much benefit of the doubt previously. I found this again to be shrouded in oak and very spicy. Not approachable for my taste. Yes, plenty of fruit and concentration, but this needs a lot of time to integrate...assuming it will.
Tasting pour. Ripe fruit, cassis, blackberry, spice. I like the depth here and lush fruit with a good texture. This is approachable, but will benefit from another 2 years. 90+(+)pts.
Tasting pour. Oddly enough I had happened to have this a couple weeks ago. Very consistent, cassis, sweet vanilla, blackberry, black raspberry. Good stuff. 92+pts.
I agree with some that this didn't seem as good as other vintages. I don't think it is anywhere near an 84pt wine though. It is pretty young and I generally like 3 to 4 years on this wine. So I would give it a chance to get better. 88(+)pts.
Tasting pour. Pretty good when you consider a sub $16 price tag on sale. For an entry level pinot they do a pretty good job crafting a quality wine and you could do a LOT worse at $25. Light medium ruby color. Lighter body, but bright fruit with some earth and floral nuances.
Tasting pour. You immediately know you have a wine with style and grace. The nose is lovely with crème de cassis, mulberry, boysenberry, mocha, spice. The palate is where this excites though, medium-full to full body, velvety texture, elegance and power. balanced, pure cassis and berry fruits, long finish. Would love to sit down with this for an evening. 94(+)pts.
Tasting pour. Very dark red/purple color. Ripe black currants, black raspberry, chocolate, elegant, rich flavors with good depth and complexity. Long finish.
This was pleasant but didn't really comes across as outstanding. Citrus, lemon, ok acids, but it seemed to lack some zest and energy for me to carry it to the next level.
USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District
Very dark purple/red color. Earth, black cherry, dark berry, cassis, loam, showing nicely. 90(+)pts. I always find these reward cellaring for till 4-5 years old.
Strange blend, I mean "interesting" blend....I don't know, this is ok, but I'd rather decide what I want to drink and pick one or the other vs this mix.
USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
This classy chard really delivers, classics blend of power and finesse, nice fruit together with good minerality and complementary oak, very bright and pure with a long finish. 93+pts.
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Cherry, spicy, earth, berry. Medium finish. I generally like this bottling with around 5 years of age. This is getting close now. Good though this is, it is not quite up to the vintages on either side.
Wow, this was truly impressive. Beautiful bright fruit of dark berries, cedarbox, graphite, cigar tobacco, minerals. The palate is oh so elegant with sweet lush tannins that coat the mouth for a long lingering finish. Very impressive and quite approachable. 94+ to 95pts.
Dark cherry fruit, crushed rocks, spice, nicely layered and has a long finish. There is a little heat showing, nominal, and a little more time should allow this to fully integrate. This is outstanding already.
Tasting pour. Rock solid as usual. Year in and year out, this is a well constructed classic Bordeaux styled blend that is built to age. Flavors of cassis, black cherry, blueberry, tobacco, earth, and graphite lead into a medium plus finish. Good QPR. 91(+)pts.
Can't say I like the new label, but whatever... The wine is pretty typical, dark red fruits, plum and cherry, oak, licorice, some firm tannin at present.
Typical inexpensive South American cab that tastes thin, herbal and green with a healthy blend in of Carmenere. Not of any interest regardless of cost.
This was drinking pretty young with lots of oak in the front. Plenty of dark red fruit in the background with good structure. This may integrate nicely in a couple years. 88(+)pts.
This was a small, but decent pour. PNP, nice medium dark color already. This was not really optimum for evaluating this wine, but it certainly shows a great deal of potential. Lots of botrytis up front with orange marmalade, apricot, honey and florals. The palate is round and complex, botrytis, orange peel, honey, apricot. The finish is quite long and intense. This is just starting to take shape. 95 +(+)pts.
