Powerful nose with some leather and licorice but this is not overwhelming. Earthy, garrigue and blackberry notes. Very well balanced, almost restrained on the palate for Cairanne. Tannic finish. Wonderful freshness and hard to believe this is 14.5%. BioD.
Dark fruits, masculine for Beaujolais. Floral (violet) and quite mineral. Surprising grippy finish (vineyard on slopes towards Moulin a vent). Very good.
This is much more polished than the 2007 I had recently. Round with a light touch of wood (texture wise). Floral with dark fruits with some red cherry in the background. Maybe just needs a little more time to gain a little interest.
Reduced nose, laurel and stewed strawberry but without any heaviness. Blackberry as well. Very good structure and incredible freshness for '09. Super delicious.
BioD. Mainly mourvedre (60%) with Grenache and syrah. Quite earthy with nice dark cherry and leather notes. Fresh herbs. It has a surprising freshness that I don't expect in Lirac. Reminded me of a ripe sangiovese from time to time.
France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux
Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache on high elevation, north-northwest. Cuve and large barrels. Ripe fruits, a spritz of grenadine (Malabar!). A little bit creamy texture wise with again a lot of fruit (red fruits: raspberry and strawberry) on the palate but manage to stay balance and fresh once again.
Mango nose. Very round wit an almost buttery/oily texture. Totally dry and much less exotic on the palate which is almost austere compared to the nose. Well done.
From a vineyard next to the Coulee de Serrant. 90 years old vines. Very leesy (muscadet like), round with some old lemon skin notes. A restrained style of Savennieres.
France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux
Lots of fennel on the nose, warm grass. Unsweetened calisson with a hint of peach. Similar palate with maybe a touch of oak on the finish. Fat and round but showing a nice energy (and only 12.5%!)
Super fresh nose hitting you. Garrigue, honey, a little bit of almonds. Refreshing lemon and lime notes. Surprising touch of perfume as well. Chalky. This is quite complex. Full body but with some tension. Really good.
