  • 2000 Château Prieuré-Lichine 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Dark garnet with dark red rim; red currant, cranberry, blue cheese, sweaty pits; richness, tobacco, stony, earth, red fruit, darker, nice grip of tannin that is pleasant; pent up and lots left in the tank.

  • 2005 Domaine Billard-Gonnet Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens-Bas

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru

Dark crimson with small light red rim; diaper, red fruit, hints at cinnamon, sandalwood, fennel; deep and rich palate, big for Burg, very cherry, tannic, ripe, sour cherry, larger scaled, dark cherry pit, chewy, dense; a little singular but good potential; this bottle may have been advanced slightly.

  • 2004 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 90 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Dark garnet almost to rim; radish (I know who, what, and where we are), leather, funk, green, sweet tart, red fruit, acorn; leaner, hard red fruit, good freshness; not exactly sure why I didn't like this more; 90+.

  • 2006 Château Branaire-Ducru 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Black core with garnet rim; plump blackberry, red currant, vanilla, stewed tomato, and something that is about to turn in to green pepper; licorice, dark and rich, tannic, almost closed, pencil shavings, graphite; needs 12 more years.

  • 2010 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée

Pale red almost pink to the rim; a little reductive with plastic, sweet tart, cherry, strawberry, confected and youthful; fatter fruit, sweet with lots of sour cherry, highly tensile structure, taut; clean and delicious, would love to taste in 10 years.
