Introduction

1st course - Appetizers:
- Sashimi Tuna Salsa
- Cheese dips
- Bacon/Blue Cheese Dates

2nd course:
- Baked Salmon with Lemon and Capers on bed of Haricot Verts

3rd course:

Flight 1 - Appetizer Flight (4 Notes)

Clear winner was Failla which was widely preferred by the group.

Flight 2 - Salmon Course (3 Notes)

Again the Rivers Marie was the hands down winner of the flight. Everyone loved it fruit balanced with a nice crisp finish. As seems to be the case with RM... it was the first bottle finished of the night.

  • 2011 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 92 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

This is drinking very well right now and was the favorite of the flight.
Crisp red fruits with a really nice complexity. The nose is showing well and the finish lingers nicely. An outstanding wine.

  • 2012 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 88 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

This bottle seemed disjointed compared to the others it was tasted against. The nose was outstanding but the palate seemed to lack focus and there was little apparent acidity to balance it out. Hopefully with time this will come together a little.

  • 2006 Radio-Coteau Pinot Noir La Neblina 89 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

A touch bitter compared to others in the flight, but still a nice nose and structure. It did however drink better on day 2 as the bitterness seems to have dissipated.

Flight 3 - Beef Short Ribs Flight (3 Notes)

I love Myriad, but I was still surprised that for such a young wine it showed as well as it did against 2 very solid competitors. It was the winner by a vote, with the other 2 receiving equal votes so it was very close and really all of these were very, very good.

  • 2011 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 92 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

This was drinking very well for such a young wine. Served with a 5 hour decant and it was the favorite of the group on this particular evening. Soft tannins for this stage with a complex nose and wonderful finish.

  • 2007 Paradigm Cabernet Sauvignon 93 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville

Always a favorite. Notes of Tobacco and Mocha with dark black fruits. Drinking well with a 5 hour decant and should continue to age for several years.

  • 2005 Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon 92 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain

Dark black fruits with notes of pepper typical to this wine. It drank very well with a 5 hour decant and should continue to age and develop for some time.

Closing

Wine Favorites as voted on by group:
Chardonnay: Failla (Hands down winner)
Pinot Noir: Rivers Marie (again hands down winner)
Cabernet: Myriad (was a winner by one vote over a tie between Paradigm and Outpost so it was really to close to tell.)
