An old favorite and another one of the best 4 of the day to my tastes. As with the Lallement, the Pinot Noir red fruit aromatics come through, but on the palate there is a crisp citric acidity. A wonderful champagne for those who enjoy a Pinot-Noir based style.
Again the yeasty note predominates on the nose (I even switched glasses just to be sure it wasn't the remnants from the Billiot Rose) to the point that it is hard to enjoy the wine. As with the Billiot Rose, I've enjoyed this wine other times so I found this showing surprising. I don't know if bottle variation or the comparative setting is to blame.
Another successful champagne. The Pinot Noir red fruit is expressive on the nose but the palate is satisfyingly dry. One of the best 4 of the day, I thought.
Probably my favorite of the day. Both the nose and palate show a rich creamy opulence that reminds me of a Tete-de-Cuvee style. The wine also shows that familliar and wonderful baked bread aroma and it also shows its Pinot Noir. This is a big and rich Champagne for fans of the Bollinger style.
There was a funky yeasty aroma to this bottle that I found offputting. I haven't encountered this in the Billiot Rose before so I found this surprising.
This was pretty and pure but seemed very tightly wound and wasn't showing that much. I think this will probably be good someday and but it could use some time.
Another of the day's top 4. This showed a lot of personality, with a funky/yeasty/mushroomy note that reminded me of some of the better bottles of Philiponnat that I've had in the past.

Balanced acidity and a little fruit, clean and simple, perfectly fine but not much personality.

Too creamy and monolithic for me.

I rather liked this, as it showed a little acidic bite along with its lactic notes.

On the lactic side with a little acidity. OK but boring.

Noticeably Pinot-y, and in fact like the Fleury veers uncomfortably into the tooty-frooty territory.

Joel Falmet NV Brut Tradition: Another case of whether the yeasty thing got out of hand to the point where this tasted off.
