Bottled under natural cork. Has matured well and now displays an attractive harmony of Sauvignon-pyrazines, Sémillon weight and ripeness and some well-integrated new oak. Good acidity for age and vintage, lemon curd palate. At peak.
Magnum. Flavoursome, has power and weight but on the rustic side, very tannic and showing some oxidative notes on the nose. Went very well with rack of lamb.
This was really singing. On the lighter side (as Rayne-Vigneau, with its western exposure, almost invariably is), only medium-dry by now, but with a lovely rôti, ripe fruit, lively energy and a firm 1988-backbone. Stylish.
Rich and figgy style, cloves, ripe cherry fruit, balanced well by a firm tannic structure and ripe acidity. Still youthful and drinking well right now but certainly has another 10-15 years in it.
Stunning Grande Champagne Cognac, the purest expression of its terroir. Incredibly floral (there is up to 40% folle blanche in the blend), fruity (orange, orange zest) and youthful at 35 years of age, such energy and finesse, supported by subtle notes of oak and rancio. Distinguished and long.

Attractive, clean and smooth, nice balance between freshness, minerals, fruit and a hint of nutty evolution.
