This was held back in June and I am catching up on my notes. An evening of wonderful wines.
Another outstanding bottle of this wine. I have had it from many sources and in many places and I am impressed with the consistency. In this context, this certainly was more burly compared to the Margaux and Haut Brion.

A standout, among standouts in this lineup. Initially quite reserved only revealing slight red and black fruit. This became more perfumed with time. More dark and red fruit on the palate, forward spice and floral notes. This was powerful, but extremely elegant. Long finish full of finesse. Outstanding now, but this will continue to develop for many years.

Much more open than the Margaux. More earth, asphalt, some smoke and sweet dark fruit on the nose. Wonderful harmony on the palate. More dark fruit and tobacco. Interesting mix of spice. Love the balance and long finish.

In this all star lineup, I expected this to be lagging way behind, but it actually was pretty nice. Soft, round red and black fruit along with some earth on the nose and palate. A bit smokey. Nicely integrated and smooth finish. It just didn't come close to the depth of the other wines. But pleasant on its own.

This had the most exotic nose and palate of the 90 Bordeaux. Fully open and rich nose of ripe black fruit, some coffee, herbs and licorice. Sweet, ripe and large scaled in the mouth. Lovely caramel and espresso note. Great balance and texture. Long finish with nice grip. I really enjoyed this.

My first time with this famous wine. Super ripe black fruit, coffee and caramel on the nose. This carries through to the palate which is full on, bright and concentrated. Slight floral note. Very young and vibrant. This is big and powerful, but without being overdone or heavy handed. Certainly the most modern feel. of the Bordeaux we had tonight. Very very tasty.

My wine of the night and I am really loving La Landonne lately. The most expressive nose of the evening with intense black fruit, black pepper, and grilled meats. Big, bold yet elegant and silky in the mouth with a delicious floral streak. Bright and youthful. While there was plenty of detail, this was so youthful and energetic is seemed almost primary. Very very long finish with wonderful grip. Outstanding.

Dark fruit, grilled meats, but not a lot going on with this. Seemed off or shut down. Nice enough but did not stand out.

Very similar to the last bottle. Mature fruit and grilled meat with hint of strawberry.

This started out extremely funky on the nose and while this gradually improved, the fruit and balance were not nearly as good as other bottles I have had. Still impressive, but I know it can be better.

Another fine bottle from the same case. Many of the group actually preferred this to the 90 DRC RSV which was surprising.

This appeared to be a better bottle than the last one I tried. Beautiful nose of spice, red fruit, some dried roses, touch a mushrooms. Forward, sweet and delicate on the palate. Great energy and grip. Love the detail and while the age is evident, this has still got a long way to go.
