Dinner at our house with 1998 Auusie Wines

Friends came over to enjoy a simple meal, see our cellar and pick up wine I ordered for them. Simple meal, '98 theme with Penfolds Grange vs Henschke Hill of Grace. Pulled a '99 vs the '98 for the Dom Perignon and don't know why.

  Very clean color, youthful, good viscosity, good mouth feel and this is going to last.

• 1998 Penfolds Grange 98 Points

  Big, dark, concentrated nose, decanted 2 hours before serving, developed nicely over time in the glass, gained depth and strength. This was simply marvelous and a great contrast to the Hill of Grace.

  Same decanting, brighter and cleaner color vs the Grange, super concentrated nose, not much change in the glass and still going strong after 1+ hours. Great side by side comparison. Blown away and happy to say there is more in the cellar.
