  • 1994 Régis Cruchet Vouvray Sec

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray

This was my contribution and it worked, still going strong. The cork was a complete mess, the 1/4 top was petrified but the rest was fresh. Dark gold color. Medium plus weight. Surprise, the acid is still showing. This was showing beautifully for a 20 year old white. Who knew?

  • 2010 Foreau Domaine du Clos Naudin Vouvray Sec

Light straw color. Citrus notes for the palate and nose. Acidity is medium plus and crisp, edgy mouthfeel.

  • 1985 Château Mouton Rothschild

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Very mature bdx. Greatly appreciated Chris bring this bottle. Pale maroon color, brown edges, mute fruit, ripe plum, tobacco, earth tones, mushrooms and moss. It's time to drink up.

  • 1997 Delas Frères Côte-Rôtie La Landonne

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

    (8/18/2014)

Bonus - my first La La. I was not disappointed and the others agreed as this was probably the favorite of the group. Initial impression was "really, this a '97?" because there is little evidence of aging in either the appearance or palate. Looking very dark in the glass. While the wine is concentrated, it's not fruit forward. It's probably more a reflection of the complexity which is outstanding. Dark berries, saddle leather, herbs, spice, acid and something I couldn't put my finger on all working together. Excellent wine.

  • 2002 Alois Kracher Scheurebe TBA #5 Zwischen den Seen

    Austria, Burgenland, Neusiedlersee

    (8/17/2014)

Light gold color. Medium plus weight. Great flavors of dried fruit and apricot. Acid is really making this sing. Reminds me of a tokay. Deliciousness.

  • 1995 Domaine Philippe Delesvaux Anthologie

France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Coteaux du Layon

Dark gold color, light browning. Thick mouthfeel and lots of sweet honey and ripe peach. Decadent as you'd expect.

  • 2000 Alban Vineyards Viognier Abbott

USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley

    (8/18/2014)

Frank, I won't leave you out on a tasting note island by yourself. I had the same impression of this wine as well. Color is very dark, almost a walnut. The lack of acid leads to heavy and syrupy wine. The cane sugar and maple flavors are nice but it was outclassed by the other two dessert wines. Full disclosure: I have a sweet tooth
