Relatively light but intense colour, very fine bead; elegant nose of considerable finesse, ripe Chardonnay fruit, mineral and floral, hint of custard, toasty depth; the relatively broad but stylish palate displays its 2002-power, with fruit of red apple and peach, a seamless structure and impeccable balance, subtle touch of tropical fruit; very good length.
Label designed by Philippe Starck. Pure and creamy, complex and subtle floral notes, rich but elegant, lovely weight, seamless and stylish, smoky Pinot Noir gives depth and a savoury note, linear and long. successfully avoids the vicissitudes of many Nature Champagnes and reveals the wine in all its purity.
Disgorged 2013. Shares the inimitable complexity and energy of the bottle tasted yesterday, but its style is more nutty and mature, and even if it is still outstanding, it is not as magical.
Disgorged 2013. Une merveille! Incredible finesse and energy, with that inimitable DP character, but somehow the volume seems to have been turned up a notch compared to P1, seamless, fabulous 1998 acidity, the quality reminds me of the great 2002 (normal disgorgement), but this has a little less power and more finesse. Wow.
Mature style, candied fruit, very Bollinger, rich but not really powerful or structured; on the other hand open, very attractive and ready for business.
Mature but completely fresh, intense but subtle and gentle, ripe 1999-fruit, elegant rather than structured, not an obvious Champagne, complete, entices but needs to be conquered.
Magnum, disgorged September 2014. Wonderful freshness from the malic acid, crisp and fresh even after a quarter of a century, tightly wound and mineral, displaying subtle notes of coffee and cocoa, very energetic but at ease with itself, touch of creamy lemon, an intellectual wine.
Intense, pure and clean, dry but silky and certainly not raw, cool and even airy, floral, wonderfully fresh, on a par with the very best. Distilled by Capovilla in Veneto and the quality shows.
Very stylish and elegant Cognac, classical, harmonious and fragrant, fresh, with a pleasant character of candied fruit, nice warmth, flowers and chalk, silky, very pure and long. Merveilleux.
Aged in Hine's Bristol cellars, in a more maritime climate than in Cognac, with higher humidity and more constant, cooler temperatures. The difference is staggering, in particular on the nose, where more saline notes almost replace the distinctive floral Grande Champagne fragrance. Less nutty and warm on the palate too, this seems fresher and less developed, with a little more cut and drive. The quality is very similar.
