    Relatively light but intense colour, very fine bead; elegant nose of considerable finesse, ripe Chardonnay fruit, mineral and floral, hint of custard, toasty depth; the relatively broad but stylish palate displays its 2002-power, with fruit of red apple and peach, a seamless structure and impeccable balance, subtle touch of tropical fruit; very good length.

    Disgorged 2013. Une merveille! Incredible finesse and energy, with that inimitable DP character, but somehow the volume seems to have been turned up a notch compared to P1, seamless, fabulous 1998 acidity, the quality reminds me of the great 2002 (normal disgorgement), but this has a little less power and more finesse. Wow.

    Magnum, disgorged September 2014. Wonderful freshness from the malic acid, crisp and fresh even after a quarter of a century, tightly wound and mineral, displaying subtle notes of coffee and cocoa, very energetic but at ease with itself, touch of creamy lemon, an intellectual wine.

  • 1975 Hine Grande Champagne Cognac Early Landed 94 Points

    France, Cognac, Grande Champagne Cognac

    Aged in Hine's Bristol cellars, in a more maritime climate than in Cognac, with higher humidity and more constant, cooler temperatures. The difference is staggering, in particular on the nose, where more saline notes almost replace the distinctive floral Grande Champagne fragrance. Less nutty and warm on the palate too, this seems fresher and less developed, with a little more cut and drive. The quality is very similar.
