Very different experience from my last bottle two years ago. Quite herbal and red-fruited on the nose, though something I couldn't identify seemed a bit off (not faulty). Reasonable balance, but not a lot of enjoyment. Not sure if this wasn't a representative bottle or these are just not aging gracefully.

Very smoky (burnt wood) nose that is hard to get past, though when you do, there is a bit of red fruit and green notes on the nose. The palate is quite pleasant, with a luscious mouthfeel, pretty cherries, and a fairly medium-long sour cherry/cranberry finish. And smoke. And burnt wood. And smoke.

This is not at all the wine that I have had (and enjoyed!) previously. Medium-plus tawny color showing far too much age. A cherry liquor (or even blueberry jam) nose. Slightly spritzy. Spice, meat, and a very lifted (read, VA) quality to the fruit. On the palate, very rich fruit, white pepper. This tasted very rich, richer than it actually is. Some notes of an oxidized, fortified wine. This was intriguing for the "what is it" game, but not very enjoyable. I am sure that this is not a representative bottle.

Medium ruby/purple, youthful color. An initial vinyl aroma quickly blew off. Bright red fruit, with a bit of herbal and mineral notes. Simple, but quite enjoyable. The only wine that I managed to ID all night.

Incredibly complex, interesting, and captivating nose of dried flowers, dried red and blue fruit, and a supporting cast from every category - herbs, earth, green pepper, etc. Absolutely beautiful nose. The palate also delivers, with red fruit and earth. Tannins suggest a life ahead of it, but why wait? Fantastic, and pretty much everyone's wine of the night.

Aside from "earthy," this just initially seemed "dirty" and even a bit reminiscent of dishwater. Red berries, stems, earth. Plenty of structure, still quite young. Given that it was seriously outmatched in its flight, I thought "ehh" and didn't give it very much time or attention.

Mostly bright fruit but with a slightly muted rusticity. Surprisingly low tannin but quite marked acidity. Medium-plus bodied, but incredibly elegant. I drank my last bottle way too young, but it is certainly drinking very well now. My second favorite of the night.

Very sweet cherry, sweet mulling spices, and (strangely) some graphite. Fairly low tannin, but with lifted acids on the finish. Not very structured, a bit soft, Chambolle-like. Elegant palate. Still quite youthful, primary. My #3 of the night.

Sweet oranges, clementines, red apple, and a gas station flower shop. A slight vinyl-like aroma quickly blew off. Soaring lemon acidity. Honeyed notes do not dominate, and the sweetness is incredibly well-balanced. Citrus fruit salad, excellent acidity, minerals, and a slight dusty quality, continued through the very long finish. Wow!

Had only a small sip, but yummy! Acid, minerals, ripe lemon and peach. Great cut.

2011 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Combes Blanc
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru
Ripe lemon, wood char, smoke, good acidity. Clearly a chard, but did not speak of Burgundy or even Old World. Okay.
