Introduction

Thanks L and B for a great evening of food, wine and lively discussion. A great time.

Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2012 Gorman Winery The Devil You Don't Know 91 Points

    USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

Inky dark. Dark berry fruit on the nose with a hint of florals. Dark berries and hint of earth on the palate. Medium mouth feel and medium finish. Very easy drinking well put together wine. Has a more old world Rhone character to me. Will likey improve over next few years.

  • 2011 Cirq Pinot Noir TreeHouse 94 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

Very dark for the varietal. Nose of black cherry and earth. Medium to viscous mouth feel. Bclsck cherry and berry on the palate with a bit of earth and a fairly prominent chalky/mineral streak. Finish goes on and on and on. Very much in the overall KB style, but the uniqueness of the site seems to come through on this one. I really enjoyed it.

  • 2008 Page Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Edition 92 Points

USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain

Dark ruby, fairly rustic nose with dark fruit. On the palate, medium mouth feel with more restrained fruit profile than the Carter Grandaddy we had next to it. (May have been somewhat related to vintage/age). Secondary notes of earth and tobacco with medium finish. Really nice and good value.

  • 2010 Carter Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon The Grand Daddy Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 94 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville

Dark purple. Swirling gives you a sense of the "weight" of this wine and releases aromas of dark berry fruit and earth. On the palate, not jammy at all, but dark berry fruit, earth and a hint of tobacco and oak. All amazingly well integrated. Enough acidity to pair with various foods. Medium to long finish. This wine was over the top good but in a restrained way (if that makes any sense).
