France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Half bottle. Rich and ripe fruit, perfumed, savoury and mealy but with lovely steely freshness, perfectly integrated oak, creamy lemon, wonderful energy and slightly caramelly and nutty length. A successful cross between Puligny and Meursault.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Silky, high quality new oak is integrating well, subtle and elegant, not very powerful or deep (the vines are young, planted 1992) but brimming with charm and bursting with mineral energy, starting to develop its tertiary complexity of nut and root, floral aromas, sweet strawberries, herbs, seamless, perfect phenolic grip, lovely length. Great finesse, very addictive. Will develop further but not for the very long term. Drink now - 2025.
Deep brown colour, the appearance of motor oil; very aromatic nose, not too sweet, nuts, flowers, raisins, spices, liquorice root and meat extract, fresh but deep and intense; the palate is powerful and rich, sweetness kept in check by well-balanced oak, rich and layered flavours, very good length.
