Flight 1 (8 Notes)

  • 1982 Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut Vintage 87 Points

    France, Champagne

We're not sure this has been stored all that well, but this was actually drinking pretty well; citrus fruits, smoke, roasted nuts and brioche flavors, with the acidity slightly fading at the end

  • 2012 Aubert Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard 94 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

This needed some time to open up, but showed very well with lots of potential with a few more years of age; the palate was concentrated and intense with ripe tropical fruits, honey, and toasty oak, although there was some nice crisp acidity keeping it in balance and I didn't think the oak was overly intrusive

  • 2004 Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

Nose was fairly restrained, and palate was slightly austere with some pear, apple and toasty oak underpinned by some stony minerality; A nice wine although a little closed off...I suspect some more air would have helped

  • 2005 Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve 93 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Very rich and ripe but not over the top; palate has loads of plums, blackberries, and licorice, with sweet tannins on the finish; this should continue to age well and perhaps some more interesting tertiary flavors will emerge

  • 2001 Gros Frère et Sœur Clos Vougeot Musigni 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru

We only decanted for roughly 30 minutes, and I don't think it was nearly enough; nose has nice aromas of dried cherries, sous bios and spice, although the tannins were still pretty prominent on the palate, keeping everything from fully integrating; Good underlying material, just needs more time

  • 1997 Louis Jadot Clos St. Denis 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru

Drinking really well right now; palate is very lithe and elegant, packed with red and dark fruits, forest floor and baking spices; this continued to improve after several hours of air

  • 1990 Château Montrose 97 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

A truly stellar wine; the nose is simply mesmerizing, with a melange of blackberries, plums, currants and earth; the palate is very silky, with concentrated red fruits underscored by well-integrated savory notes of roasted meat and tobacco; the finish just keeps sailing along, leaving you contemplating and yearning for the next sip; In its prime right now, but this will continue to be a special bottle for many more years

  • 1998 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 95 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Right out of the bottle, this had the classic Pegau funk, with notes of barnyard, saddle leather and herbs; the palate had lots of rich red fruits complemented by pepper, meat and cedar. A really classic expression of CDP that I truly enjoyed
