¤FW - This is a really tough wine! Nose is quite open with lots of cherries, chocolate, plums and some hints of green. Medium+ acidity a medium body with a very dry finish and grippy tannins. Great intensity and length. The harshness had me fooled for a Piemonte Nebbiolo. Will probably need another 7-10 years in the cellar, but my guess is this is always be a wine for the fans of tannins!

¤FW - Less warmth and fullness than I would have expected from a Priorat. Nevertheless a really nice wine! Love the coolness. Nose is very fruity with ripe fruit, sweet morello cherries, blackberriesand hints of barnyard and roasted oak. Rough and a little unpolished on the palate with good intensity and length. Dry, tannic finish and a little salinity.

¤FW - WOTN for most of tonight's participants! Tons and tons of pepper, meat, sausage, dark fruit, blackberries, a little blackcurrant. A deep and complex nose! Very dry with a medium+ acidity and a medium body. Great length and intensity. Even though it feels young it has impeccable balance and feels extremely well made. Had most of us fooled for a Northern Rhone, Côte-Rôtie.

¤FW - Very enjoyable nose with good complexity. Hints of syrah spices, liquorice but also lots of fruit, blackberries and a blackcurrants. With time and temperature it gets more dominated by oak aromas and wood. High aciditym very dry tannins good intensity and length. Definitely needs a few more years on its back, but well enough open to drink now.

¤FW - Very nice, quite light but at the same time modern Barolo. Lots of cherries, oak, a little perfume, tar, roses, mint, tobacco and more cherries. Medium body, distinct nebbiolo tannins and a very long finish. I like this as the candy perfume is less pronounced but it's not overly fruity.

¤FW - Big open, quite complex nose. Dark brooding fruit, plums, sweet cherries, blackberries, meat, chocolate, tobacco, herbs and lots of vanilla and dill. This speaks Spanish! Full bodied, medium(-) acidity very fruity, but not without structure and tannins. High intensity and good length. Maybe not my favorite style, but a good quality wine. Will keep my second bottle for at least 3-5 more years.

¤FW - Incredibly funky nose brimming of raw meat, steak tartare, herbs, brett, rubber and cherries. High acidity, but very round and smooth with almost no tannins to speak of. Sweet fruit and a good length. Very fun to try, would have liked a bit more structure on the palate though!

¤FW - Very interesting to try! Did not know that there were any Rieslings with residual sugar outside of Germany. It is not terribly sweet at all, just hints of sugar rounds of the high and tart acidity. Good complexity on the nose with flowers, redcurrants, freeze dried raspberries, rubber, petroleum, honey and orange zest. Slightly fizzy feel. Good and tasty stuff!

¤FW - This is way past its peak. Oxidized nose mainly consisting of brown apples, caramel, nuts and tobacco. Low acidity, full bodied ok length. Won't rate as this might be pre-oxed.

¤FW - Berries, strawberries, cherry kernels, liquorice and green stalks. Round and fruity with some tannins. Modern style, a tad simple. But didn't give it that much time unfortunately.

¤FW - Brilliant for its price! (150SEK, 15€). Quite oaky with some vanilla fudge, morsels and walnuts. Lots of fruit, cherries, blackberries, blackcurrants and plums. Inky fruit on the palate with round tannins and good intensity. Decent length and a dry finish. Nice!

¤FW - This is crazy dry, no sweet fruit in sight! Nose is red berries, cranberries, lingonberries and wolf berries. There's the so typical Barolo flowers, roses and hints of tar. High tart acidity, with very dry tannins. Great intensity. Feels very fresh, but this is not a wine for the weak! :)

¤FW - Not the sharpest of mind when this was opened. Botrytis, saffron, apricots, almonds, and brown sugar. Very sweet with a decent acidity. Creamy texture and good intensity and length. Nothing overly complex, but what a wonderful style of wine! Will revisit the bottle in a day or two.

¤FW - The idea to finish a tasting with a fortified wine is as brilliant as it is reckless. Lovely stuff! Nose is big, open and inviting. Oxidized aromas of nuts, apples, raisins, figs, candied sugar and toffee. Intensely sweet (probably around 300g/l) with a great depth and good acidity. Finish is everlasting!

¤FW - I have to give it a few points for originality and a good intensity, but this is not a pleasant wine! Would almost say it's completely out of balance. Nose is incredibly funky with tons of brett barnyard, rubber, smoke and rubber. Behind that there is a couple of layers with red yeasty fruit and spices. Good complexity and so far so good! The problem is the palate. Slightly fizzy and ticklish on the tongue with high, sharp acidity and raw, completely unpolished tannins, both woody, stalky and seedy. Finish is long, but that's no comfort when all you want to do it get it out of your mouth. Might be that I don't understand or haven't gotten used to this type of "Vin Nature", but I can't see why this is anything special. It's just a raw, harsh half done wine. Would love to give it another try though under better circumstances.

2002 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut 93 Points

¤FW - Fairly light color. Extremely distinct and focused nose. Lots of yeast, but a very fresh kind. Flowers, bread, water crackers and a parade of different green apples. But there is also a steely, wooly minerality. High acidity, quite round though. Lots of fruit and a just a tiny hint of sweet. Amazing length and intensity. Out of the 3 vintages of cristal I've tried before (1981 & 2000) this is by far the best.

2002 Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Champagne Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Fleuron 91 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
¤FW - Big and vocal nose with distinct maturity. Flowers, jasmine, vanilla, yellow apples and some yeast. Tasted slightly too warm, so the acidity probably felt lower than I suppose it was. Good long dry finish and good intensity. This is very good for just under 40€.
