Peter Pratt's Inn - Yorktown Heights

Somehow, despite planning on only showing up to have a good time, the table insisted that I take notes - I think one other person took a reasonable amount of notes so hopefully they and everyone else will chime in as well.
Despite my deplorable note-taking, I have to say I had an absolute blast!!! What a great group of people and what an amazing afternoon. Really a great time, and some really wonderful wines.
All the notes (if you generously call them that) are in the order I jotted them down. All of these should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
Standouts for me included the Boillot, the Poggio Alle Mura, the Sass, the Allegrini, and my WOTN the Abreu - which gets that designation partially because I loved it, and partially because it was a huge surprise to me.
2003 Garretson Wine Company Reliquary White
USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles
60/40 Marsanne/Roussanne. Lovely fruit and a great mineral element as well. A bit too sweet on the finish at first, but after 30 mins or so, the sweetness was much less persistent.

This was beautiful, even if a touch more oak than my preference.

2004 Jermann W.... Dreams .........
Italy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Venezia Giulia IGT
Reall nice. Much nicer on initial approach than a bottle of this I opened on Monday. Both bottles filled out to very similar places, although this one I think showed just a tad better. Lovely floral notes, some nice fruit complexity and some mineral notes as well.

1994 Soldera (Az. Agr. Case Basse) Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Slightly leathery, earthy, mature nose, with hints of caramel. On the palate, brown sugar and caramel, and plums. Elegant and slightly sweet. Fairly mature - drink over the next 3-5 years.

1997 Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Nose of dark fruit and a touch of smoke. Lovely palate, with great structure. Silky tannins, reasonably open. Continued to open as the evening went on. Really gorgeous when it opened up. A chocolate/mocha thing developed as well, which was quite nice.

1997 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Tight, dark and brooding on the nose. On the palate, this is elegant but tight. Opened up as the evening wore on. Dark, structured, and acidic.

2000 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia
Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri, Bolgheri Sassicaia
Popped and poured. Initially a bit of green pepper on both the nose and palate. After a brief window (30 mins?), it opens up beautifully. Clearly an earlier-drinking Sass, but just lovely.

1987 Abreu Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Ranch
USA, California, Napa Valley
WOW! This is everything I look for, but so rarely find, in California cabernet. Young, dark, vibrant and smoky nose. On the palate, dark rich, coffee notes. Lovely, complex, well built wine. Entering its maturity plateau. Just excellent!

1997 Azienda Bricco Rocche (Ceretto) Barolo Prapò
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Structured wine. This almost went back and forth between being open for business and being shut down. Definitely needs more time, but seemed very in balance. Should be nice with time.

1997 Prunotto Barolo Bussia

Nose of alcohol, roses, and red fruit. A tannic beast, with great fruit that will last while the tannins integrate. Lovely dark cherries.

1997 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
Not entirely sure I have the right Allegrini Amarone here, but it was a beautiful amarone. Great with the wonderful cheese course. Very much ready to be drunk.

1990 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Villero di Castiglione Falletto
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Once again, lacking notes.....guess there was a bit of wine here tonight! But this one I remember - beautiful and elegant, open for business but certainly not fully mature. Cedar and licorice notes IIRC. Really enjoyed it.
