France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
From MG. Magnificent showing tonight - The great JR was guessing Rayas, and I can't blame him, the elegance is there, the wine is light on it's feet, very elegant indeed with sweet grenache, garrigue, spicyness; the length is quite formidable, this completely outperformed the Janasse VV, which seemed clumsy in comparison. The wine seems mature, but shows no signs of fading. Will keep my remaining MG a year or two. At Søllerød Kro, Roberto 50.

Served from magnum, brought from my cellar vis-a-vis the 1998 Clos des Papes, this was a grave disappointment; while full bodied and rich, this one totally lost out to the elegant sibling, it seems heated and overdone. Could have been a somewhat off bottle - or just the Janasse-style fallen apart
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Smooth and sweet, this hits the nerve - probably the best Burgundy, we had that night.A good example of both the house-style, of Vosne (oh, yes) and of the vintage 2000, that seems ready to drink across the board, this creamy effort with lots of red fruit offers personality and locale to the equation. Will keep, but no sin to drink now
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Magnificent showing tonight (from magnum), much more intense and vraiment burgundian than last time. The tense mineral element is more pronounced the wine has certainly developed in to a complete Puligny - or maybe just a better bottle?
Quite a pedestrian glass of wine, lacking both concentration and personality. Served from MG, and albeit in a touch line-up on the day, this seems just nice, not more; well structured, balanced, decent tannic grip, some cassis, a very clasic left bank Bordeaux. But boring.

Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Singing tonight. Red wild berries, flowers, truffles and. Elegant and almost light, but there is a majestic power behind this, true barolo, bravo.
