  • 1999 Pierre Peters Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Cuvée Spéciale - France, Champagne, Le Mesnil Sur Oger, Champagne
    From magnum. Light-medium gold colour. Aromas of biscuit, oatmeal, lemon, and jasmine. Medium-bodied, lovely mouthfeel, with lemon, apple, and yeast notes. Short-moderate finish, 25s, with white fruit and lemon. (89 pts.)
  • 2000 Hanzell Chardonnay - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley
    Medium-gold colour. Aromas of butterscotch, creme brulee, spice. Very big and powerful nose. Also shows hints of honey, minerals, and oatmeal. Medium-bodied, lush, with ripe fruit and minerals. Moderate finish, with good length. Can age for another 4-5 years easily. (91 pts.)
  • 2004 Paul Hobbs Chardonnay Russian River Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
    Clear. Funky nose that blows off, showing white fruit and earth. Medium-full bodied, unctuous, spicy, with white fruit. Moderate finish, with white fruit and butter. (90 pts.)
  • 2004 Hartford Court Chardonnay Stone Côte Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
    Medium-gold colour. Aromas of butter, caramel, and pear. Full-bodied, lush, with papaya, guava, banana, and caramel. Moderate finish, 30s, with tropical fruit. (91 pts.)
  • 1997 Allegrini La Poja Veronese IGT - Italy, Veneto, Veronese IGT
    Opaque black/ruby colour. Aromas of chocolate covered raspberries, spice, licorice, and brown sugar. Full-bodied, lush, with cherry, raspberries, chocolate, and spice. Silky texture. Long finish, 45-50s, with chocolate covered cherries. Fantastic wine. (95 pts.)
  • 1997 Masi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Serègo Alighieri Vaio Armaron - Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
    Dark ruby colour; opaque. Aromas of raisins, prunes, chocolate covered cherries. Medium-full bodied, with raisins, chocolate, and more cherries. Moderate-long finish, 40s, with raisins and dark fruit. (93 pts.)
  • 2003 Fattoria Petrolo Galatrona Toscana IGT - Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
    Dark ruby/black colour. Brooding nose of vanilla, blackberry, bramble, cumin/spice, licorice. Medium-full bodied, tight, brooding, and backward. Good texture, however. Hints of black fruit on the palate. Moderate finish, 35s, with black fruit. Needs at least 3-5 years, probably longer. Was decanted for 3-4 hours. (92 pts.)
  • 2004 Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Botella - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills
    Medium ruby colour. Aromas of beetroot, currant, and wild strawberry. Medium-bodied, with beautiful fruit and texture. Currant, strawberry, rhubarb, and spice on the palate. Moderate-long finish, 40s, with spice and more pretty red fruit. (93 pts.)
  • 1999 Hanzell Pinot Noir - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley
    Light-medium ruby colour. Aromas of cinnamon, red fruit, and alcohol. Light-medium bodied, with red fruit following through to the short, 15-20s finish. (86 pts.)
  • 1997 Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve - USA, California, Napa Valley
    Medium-dark ruby colour, almost ruddy in nature. Aromas of blackberry, herbs, vanilla, and alcohol. Medium-bodied, tannic, a little green, with red berry fruit. Short finish, 15-20s. (87 pts.)
  • N.V. Alvear Pedro Ximénez Montilla-Moriles Solera 1927 - Spain, Andalucía, Montilla-Moriles
    Dark molasses colour. Aromas of salt, nuts, molasses, and maple syrup. Full-bodied, sweet, with sultana raisins, nuts, Christmas cake, and toffee. Moderate-long finish, 40s, with sultana raisins and toffee. (91 pts.)
