A wine made with 100% malo and aged in recent barriques of different ages, 4,500 bottles produced. Rich style, oak will integrate, would be great with smoked fish. To drink relatively young - until 2020.
Warm vintage, ripe style, smells of Syrah and of the barnyard but retains purity and freshness, has density and a velvety texture, good tannic grip. A classically styled wine, sturdy rather than full of finesse. Will age.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Altogether a more ambitious wine than the regular 2011 tasted just before, in which the weight and density of the sweet, liquorous fruit is balanced by lovely freshness and ripe tannins. Cracking CdP.
Javernières is the lower part of the Côte du Py with deeper soils of sand and clay; conaequently the wine is more tannic and less elegant, but the house style is evident and so is the quality.
Very individual, relatively masculine style, noticeable bitters, quite different from the classic Mosel profile even if it does have some wax and flowers.
