  • 1995 Kalin Cellars Chardonnay Cuvée LV 94 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County

Another killer Kalin…fresh as can be! Clean and bright fruit…nice cream and oil feel…totally Burgundy here, with just the lightest hint of aged ox…but really fresh. Love the chalky spice, banana wax, savory crushed stones….well balanced and fun to drink.

  • 2002 Louis Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet

Showing some fatness and a little age….a village drinking really well now…needed a little air…plenty of alive cirtus lemon squeeze…creamy pear, dried honey, faint vanilla…soft and round but still some mineral crunch.

WOW….there's that pycm lime! SO friggin good…..piercing lime acidity, crushed slate, chalky limestone….the age has creamed it up well…actually quite rich…dried honey, florals galore…chiseled and drinking perfect! A true pleasure.

  • 2010 Marcassin Chardonnay Marcassin Vineyard 95 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

Needs time…but a it's all there! Wonderful pure fruits with great richness and power…yet cut up nicely with crushed rocks, chalk dust, green apple skin, white flower florals….broiche, vanilla creme…SO good, but better in 10yrs. +pts

  • 2005 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Vireuils 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

At first seemed a whiff of cork, but really a false alarm…..super coiled, could have used a day decant…..but when it came out to play…wonderful tight limestone minerals, crushed rocks…lemon lime citrus…so fresh and tangy…little cream giving a nice feel…..match strike and honey nuances. Might be slumbering right now….like the little engine that could…just kept giving more and more, little by little as the day went on….wish I had more to follow in a few more years! +pts

  • 2004 Domaine Truchot-Martin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes Vieilles Vignes 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

This was a WOW wine, starting with the color, then the nose…..light cloudy translucent cranberry color…..KILLER nose of leather, perfume, sous bois, red earth dust…..not any greenies except for maybe a little tomato patch…but right next to it…a strawberry patch! Seemed delicate yet rustic….tasty as can be…and held up all day! I think the best 04 I've had?

  • 1964 Alessandria Luigi & Figli Barolo 94 Points

  • 1964 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo 89 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Whoa…is this a Tawny Port? Totally brown sugar, maple syrup, crushed hazelnuts….still alive..has a nice dryness…not a bad drinking wine….but not really what I think of in Barolo? Drinking the 64 Alessandria next to it(which was textbook) really made this one stand out. Went really well with my bread pudding though later on for dessert!

  • 1969 Mayacamas Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon California Mountain 92 Points

    USA, California

Awesome birth year wine….very dark purple youthful color, very smooth….no real tannins left here, but still alive…..silky smooth, delicate…old cellar dust, leather, dried cherry, plum…….we really needed to drink this up upon uncorking…the Chef got the first and probably the best taste…as it started to fade later on. PnP next time!

  • 1991 Ridge Monte Bello 96 Points

    USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains

Pretty similar to the last bottle a few months ago… SO young looking, black as night…..rich and creamy layered liqueur berry fruit(blackberry, plum, cherry) creme de cassis, warm chocolate, shaved pencil, olive, menthol tobacco leaf……dusty old cedar/cellar polished tannin…yet solid structure. Age has smoothed out this beauty…showing a little nuttiness and leather…but it is really so youthful still……has many many more years to go. Super wine!

  • 1999 Château Pavie 95 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

WAY better than the 00 we had a month or so ago….not sugarfied…..tastes of Bordeaux! Wonderful dusty graphite dryness, silky smooth dark berry fruit, currants, old leather, menthol, cigar box, cold smoked oak, licorice….nice firmness with minerality…really super wine to sip on!

  • 1997 Martinelli Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard 92 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

Monster Zin here…still going strong! 17.5 alc…..pretty much like drinking a Port here…but not too sweet, which I really like! Little fume…but holds it well……teeth staining purple plum blackberry liqueured fruit…..some aged leather, dusty woods, spice box…rich and voluptuous with some aged complexities….a nice after dinner sipper!

Great mouthfeel and layered with complexity…..just flat out tasty!
