Full yellow. Unattractive nose of sulfur and toasty oak. Better in the mouth, though-round, some spice, adequate acidity. Fully mature and nothing special at this point.
Much more youthful looking the 1989 Pichon Lalande. Bootstrap aromatics. Pure black fruit, still youthfully tannic yet it retains a seamless feel in the mouth. Very Cabernet/Pauillac in style and with a long way to go.
Deep ruby. Backward aromatics. Medium weight. Cassis, herbs, and powerful finishing acidity. Classic and built for the long run. Most impressive now for its balance and potential if given another 20 years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Medium ruby. Some secondary perfume. Meaty black fruit with nice incipient complexity added by woodsmoke. I was shocked by how open this seemed, especially in comparison to the 1990 de la Tour. Should turn out to be at least excellent.
Tawny but deeper than the '89 Produttori wine. Some caramel scents. Bigger than the previous wine. Good tar at its core, but fairly backward, tannic and nowhere near fully expressive.
Light red, lighter weight. Elegant and exquisitely balanced. A knockout, even for this old curmudgeon who rarely meets a Cabernet that he likes. I'd love to have this accompany dinner tonight.
2000 Faiveley Meursault
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
Golden color. Medium weight. More nuttiness and frankly oxidative tones than citrus fruit. Not gone but pretty close to it.

Light in color and weight. Surprisingly high acidity for a 1990 and good remaining red fruit. Not bad at all.

1995 Louis Jadot Musigny
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Tawny. Lovely elegant feel with high acidity and significant tannins. Tight and promising with further aging, but it didn't scream greatness.
