Bin 75

A lot of great wines tonight.
Could definitely interchange much of the order depending on amount of air and more bottle age.
I preferred the Aldo Conterno the most followed by the 2nd Biondi Santi, Pianpolvere, and Le Moine.
1999 J.M. Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Deep golden; older, Sherry, nutty, baked apple, candle wax; flat, maderized, baked apple, Sherry, some new oak, sweeter fruit, light toffee, decent acid, mineral; past peak unfortunately; others in N. Rhone but I stuck with Burg.

2010 Domaine Vincent Sauvestre Corton-Maréchaudes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
See through brighter ruby almost to rim; sour plum, dark cherry, elegant, slight pyrazine, dusty, very fresh, licorice; nice soft texture, dusty mineral, sweet red plum and dark cherry, sweet floral, red and darker, leaner, crunchy, Burg, razor sharp acid, almost medicinal finish; good Corton but not profound.

2001 Tenuta Greppo (Biondi-Santi) Brunello di Montalcino
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
This 2nd bottle couldn't be any more different from the first; deep brownish red core, clarity, rusty rim; deep nose, roasted, earth, cooked cherry, aged but still good, rusty, herbs, plum, soy, nutty, noble; juicy, licorice, fuller cherry, resolving tannin, ashy finish; very good, called '01 Tenuta Nuova, not upset with call.

2006 Lucien Le Moine Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Dull ruby red, clarity, lighter rim; sappy, red cherry, expansive, tea, not new and candied (like most Burgs we have), beefy, light herb/stem note; focused on the palate, red cherry, strong acid, a bit leaner in the fruit department, firm but not tannic as many Vaucrains can be, cherry pit; air really helped this, last taste had 2.5 hours of aeration and it really needed more.

2006 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Cicala
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Dark core with crimson rim, onion skin; anise, pure red cherry, classic Barolo, tar, powerful, caraway, sweet fruit, darker to a degree, roses; menthol, focused, high acid, red cherry, ash, served a bit cold, firm tannin but a pleasant release, still a bit brooding but almost ready; great stuff!; called '05 Colonello.

2001 Pianpolvere Soprano Barolo Riserva Bussia
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Crimson core with onion skin rim; similar to last but more age, fleshed out and more open, red cherry, ripe strawberry, herbs, vanilla, dill, sweet wood, fuller; red cherry, anise, very firm, ripe, grainy tannin (oak) but a certain polish, more modern but aged, medicinal, well preserved and can go another 10; delicious; nailed it.

2001 Château Sociando-Mallet
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
Black core with purple rim; tons of green and compost, loving it right now, black currant, smoky, cigar, lots of Bordeaux character, iodine; firm but polished tannin, sweet dark fruit that will turn into red fruit given more time in bottle, black olive, ashy tannin; this bottle was incredibly fresh as I called 2006 Graves; it must have been stored in the cellar next to Ted Williams' head.

2004 Elio Altare Barolo
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Dark core with dull brownish crimson rim; leather, tobacco, plum, oak influence, balsamic, wilted flowers, sweet and full but soft; nicely aged, cedar, tannin subsides fairly quickly, red clay, sandalwood; the softer texture lead everyone to Brunello, I called Il Poggione due to its likeness to Barolo; drink soon.

2005 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Black core with reddish violet rim; new, tar, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, modern; fleshy, firm acid, dark fruit, chocolate, smooth tannin; soft and tasty but needs to put on some more weight with age (hopefully), seems almost prepubescent with some upside potential.

1998 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Cloudy, darker core, dull rim; metallic, plum, cloudy fruit profile, a bit warm, wild fruit, animal; sweeter palate, animal, nice plush texture, sweet dark fruit, the little tannin there hits the front of the palate; reminded me of N. Rhone.

2004 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Dark dull crimson rim; funk, green, many called this canned asparagus, nice balance, deep tart red fruit; good density, full mid palate, firm tannin, sour red fruit, violets, a plushness to the tannin almost reminded me of N. Rhone; very good; pop and pour, should have let aerate longer to see if green subsided at all.
