4th of July, Steaks, friends and good wine ... unfortunately the sun was burning at 36 degrees celsius. Was still a great event and a big thank to the wonderful hosts Irene and Rene.
Dom Perignon was the star. Egly was also top but almost too heavy at the high temperatures...
2004 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année 92 Points
France, Champagne
(7/5/2015)
Light gold in color. Subtle nose of ripe apples and baked brioche. Fine bubbles, nice balance but a bit short in the finish. Easy drinking Champagne but in the current phase there are better alternatives for less money. Bottle Deg Oct 2012.

2004 Dom Pérignon Champagne 95 Points
France, Champagne
(7/5/2015)
Wonderful DomP. Light yellow in color. Nose shows smoked flavors, toasted bread, lime and apples. Very elegant almost light but at the same time long and multifaceted. An enormous wine and so addicting. Much better than the 2003. Amazing now and in the next 10-15 years.

2003 Egly-Ouriet Champagne Grand Cru Brut Millésimé 93 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
(7/5/2015)
Golden ripe color. Nose shows cooked apples, caramel and yeast. Quite a heavy and rich Champagne, but likely among the best produced in 2003. Most definitely much better than DomP 2003. As the weather was 35 Deg. Celsius this was not the right Champagne, to maskulin to heavy but still a superb bottle. Drink now - 2022
