France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
(6/26/2015)
Slightly tropical start with plenty of apple and pear on nose and palate. Starts lush and forward, shows more restraint and textural excitement from middle forward. Good now, better in another year or two.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
(6/26/2015)
Red and black cherry with some roasted meat aromas and braised meat spice. Slightly backward right now, I'd expect this will be better and more harmonious in another year or three.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
(6/27/2015)
Popped and poured. Enchanting aromas of spice, spring flowers, ripe orchard fruit and tropical hints. Less open on palate, perhaps slightly shut down to start. Better 45 minutes later and I'd expect even better later...if any wine was left.
Similar to the C Moreau les Clos tried a few days ago, but slightly smokier, weightier and riper. Lots of great apple aromas and flavors with good spice support and impressive concentration.
Straight off the bottling line at Champy yesterday, this couldn't be fresher and will be a great summer wine in '15 and '16. Cross-section of apple with some lemon on the finish, this is clean, crisp and refreshing. Thanks, Dimitri.
Low expectations given the wine's level and age, but good color and fill gave me hope. Lots of mature ripe fruit with nice honeyed, caramelized character. Plenty of spice and earth as well. If served blind, I'd have certainly been wrong by a couple of decades.
2008 Domaine Amiot et Fils Clos de la Roche 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

Subdued aromas followed by red and black cherry flavors that are accessible at this early age. Modest spice. Drinking well now.

Tasting, brief note. Pleasant and vibrant, good for near-term enjoyment, just not much depth or nuance. Fun now.

Tasting, brief note. Riper and more interesting / concentrated vs the 2011, this would certainly be a fun, simple wine for the summer.
