France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Golden yellow and very fresh for a 22 year old white. White fruit with a hint of mineral and acid. Lush and round and mouth filling. More hedonistic than the 05 Leflaive Chevalier and an excellent contrast. Excellent wine. Drink now.
Surprised to see the sulphur hasn't integrated yet but it blows off after about 10 minutes. Very precise wine with sharp acid and lemon. Very dry for a Spatlese. Classic Prum. Delicious. Perfectly good now or over the next ten or more years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
Popped and poured. This was great from the get go. Seductive perfume filled with savory spices and a hint of fruit. Similar flavors follow through on the palate. Grand Cru ethereal quality where the density and concentration of flavor is huge without the wine feeling big. This wine has entered its prime drinking window but has at least 10 years in the tank.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
Great showing. Very precise and dominated by lemon lime fruit over a backdrop of minerals. Still very light yellow in color. This wine lingers on the palate urging you to take sip after sip. I'm not sure how this will develop but it is quite tasty right now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Popped and poured. Lively dark fruit on the nose and palate. Tightly wound and concentrated showing the 2009 vintage typicity with noticeable but not obtrusive tannin. This may develop complexity or generally improve with additional cellar time. Drink or hold.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
According to Tom this is a Negoc wine. This was good for a 2011. I'm happy to report that I did not detect any green. Notes of berry fruit but lacking the depth and complexity of a Grand Cru. A bit clumsy and more like a solid Premier Cru. This wine is open for business and lacking the structure to go the long haul. I'd consider this one for near term drinking or even the sell pile.
Another incredible showing. Brilliant mouth feel. Very precise on the palate with notes of lemon curd, chalk, and stone. Loads of power and concentration yet silky on the palate. This did not diminish over two hours. A great CdC.
