End of Project Supper 4

Another project supper with Juanita and Greg...and a new French restaurant.

We pretty much just tucked into the Chassagne on arrival.

Three cheese souffle, dozen snails, steak tartare, foie gras, duck terrine, dried duck
Mains
Venison, tuna steak, confit duck
Pudding:
apple ice cream, apple brulee, apple crepe

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet

  lemon, cream, vanilla, slightly yoghurt notes, beautifully balanced, lovely.

• 1991 Château Pontac Monplaisir Blanc

  France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

  maderised and slightly oxidised but lemon and bees wax. not really drinkable by itself but went very impressively with three cheese souffle.

  Ripe apples, off dry, fresh, very pleasant matched with assiette de pommes.

  fresh and juicy, cranberries, red currant. good with supper.

  Lovely. Wine of the night. Obviously new world but beautifully balanced.

  South Africa, Cape South Coast, Walker Bay, Hemel-en-Aarde Valley

  a bit out of whack. ripe fruit but also green notes and obvious oak - vanilla.

  I do like this wine but it didn't stand up well to the Elk Cove. cherry and berry.

Great company, great wine, great food. the Elk Cove was wine of the night. Mind you, I pulled out the wrong Elk Cove from the cellar...oops
