Very young, The fruit is fine, light, citrusy with hints of butter,m this is a fresh champagne, that you could drink by the case. More summer than winter, IMHO, but the clean, very refined and very refined style will of course world any day. This will get better in a couple of years.
The color is very much nature, a bit cloudy (but only a bit), and the nose awakes with concentrated fruit and flowers. Forceful, yet tight, this is a very rich (and yet strict) champagne to drink with. More concentrated than the Pol Roger 2004, that went before, this is certainly a wine, that is master of it's domaine ...
Magnificent wine with some weight and mineral and slightly oxidized (in a good way) presence; it lingers on, in the glass and in the mouth, and it is certainly still a very young wine with the fruit, somewhat exotic and with hints of orange peel, is very much center stage.
Rich, but still strict and flinty in a very CsH sort of way; minerals dominates, I did guess Alsace Riesling, but the wine seems much younger, than it is, and the VT par is only detectable if you know the normal CsH. Acidity is still high, there are some smokiness and fullness her, but the precision, oh the precision ...
I have had countless bottles of premoxed and tired bottles of Lafon, but lo and behold, this 95 is fresh as a whistle (I actually guessed Puligny, albeit on a night where I got most wines wrong; the richness is here, but it is more minerals than butter that dominates, it is quite broad and complex with a vibrant acidity that keeps everything in place. Wonderful, mature white burg.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
while not the greatest burg, I've eve tasted, this is very good, quite concentrated (without being) hot, very Gevrey. Lots of sweet pinot fruit, a bit of fatness, herbs are here, even spices, it is a manly wine, just approaching itls drinking windows . it will keep for 5-10 years, easy,
Mature (but very far from old) this is a feminine, elegant wine, very classical as it combines elegance and concentration. Small red berries galore, a bit stony, tannic exterior, some smokiness, this seems to be coming around, and if you decant there is no harm in drinking it now - though it will keep.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Wonderful and extremely fresh and tight - I guessed northern Rhône and boy, was I wrong, but this is no soft, sweet 2000 int the style of Goût Americain, this comes across as a very disciplined and clean Grenache wine - Grand Cru indeed. Will live in, but it is in a sweet spot right now.
