It was a pleasure to welcome Chris Cottrell and Morgan Twain-Peterson to Minneapolis. They had a couple of events scheduled with the local Bedrock fans, but Steve Sigmond and I were able to coax them into arriving a day early for a great Monday night dinner at the newly opened St. Genevieve in south Minneapolis. A fun night.
Leaving Chris and Morgan to the frigid temperatures in Minneapolis, I moved on to NYC. This was theoretically a "low key" sushi night at Shuko, as a prelude to our Dujac Clos St Denis vertical the following night.
The two themes for Thursday were BBM and Dujac Clos St Denis. Food and service at Marea were impeccable as always.
The Dujac Clos St. Denis did not disappoint. I really love their CSD, and would happily repeat these flights anytime.
1969 Dom Pérignon Champagne P3

Drank 69 DP Oeno and 69 DP P3 side by side. Both were fantastic, but the P3's really are special.

2011 Domaine Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Ruchottes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru

Terrific wine, that never fails to please. It is fully accessible now, and is a drinking wine, not necessarily a sipping wine. In the words of Morgan T-P, "this is VERY quaffable." I agree.

1999 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Echezeaux
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

I really liked this from the first sip. It had class, character, and depth. My table mates took about fifteen minutes to agree with me.

1999 Domaine Chevillon-Chezeaux Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
(1/12/2016)
This was an okay drink, but for me it really didn't live up to its potential (producer, vintage, vineyard). Nothing wrong with it, just not a standout, and a bit meh. Maybe the bottle?

2005 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
(1/12/2016)
A repeat of my experience from two years ago. Silky, beautiful juice, that's really very open for business. Class, class, class. Fortunately, I'll drink it twice this week, as we're having a Dujac Clos St Denis vertical on Thursday.
