  • 2005 Domaine du Collier Saumur La Ripaille Rouge 90 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur

High pitched (some VA), spicy, banyard and red currant nose as well as rhubarb and strawberries. Powerful and ripe fruits, but a bit of a brute.

  • 2005 Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon Franc de Pied 93 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon

Very rich, dense and multilayered. Herbal note (dill and physalis), high pitched florals, also some soap. A pleasant spicy note on the palate, seems hot and powerful, but well balanced and the alcohol bite doesn't seem obtrusive. Still lots of potential, I wonder how it will taste after 2-3 years. WOTN for me and everybody at the table. (92+)
